Chapter 18 The Final Hello
Mr. Rosen was looking at the newspaper when he saw that the war was over so he told Ellen and her mom that were going back to Copenhagen and live in our old apartment. Ellen was so happy that she ran up and down and across the walls. She wrote a letter to Annemarie that said that she was coming back Annemarie was so happy that she went to tell Kirtsi and Kirsti was so happy too so they went outside and started yelling and saying our best friend is coming to live here again.
It was a beautiful winter Monday morning it was time for school and Mama said to Annemarie that there was a surprise outside so she went outside and found her best friend Ellen saying hi they both ran to each other and hugged they were so happy they asked their moms if they could stay home and chat with each other. Their moms said yes so they stayed home and talked about 2 long years without seeing each other. When Ellen heard that Peter died she was upset and started to cry.
Ellen said to Annemarie that she didn’t hardly have fun so she said that she drew pictures of Annemarie. The next day it was there first day of middle school second for Kirsti so the classmates that were Jews thanked Annemarie and Ellen. They were all happy to be with each other. She loved being in her class because everybody was nice to her because she was like a hero. She didn’t like the food because the lunch ladies always made Broccoli. The war was over for three years live was good no officers stopping us telling us to halt they missed Uncle Henrik and Blossom so they asked Mama and Mrs.Rosen if we could go to his house and they both said maybe in the summer time so we can go swimming and fishing.
School was over it was summer Ellen and Annemarie have been waiting for this for a long year they went to Uncle Henriks house for 4 weeks they had lots of fun they went swimming and fishing but the unthinkable happened Annemarie caught the biggest fish ever and was crowned king Annemarie Fisherman.
